Come to this beautiful, coastal playground that provides unlimited recreational activities to enjoy any time of year. At the end of West Grand Avenue, you can drive your vehicle on the beach to explore an off-road area among the most popular and unique of California State Parks. The 5.5 miles of beach open for vehicle use–and the sand dunes available for off-highway motor vehicle recreation–are attractions for visitors and locals alike.  Park your car in the evening along the beach for an impromptu sunset viewing without even stepping out of your car.

Lucia Mar Unified School District offers an average class size of 22 students and is ranked in the top 14% of school districts in California. There are six private schools with a class average size of 13:1. Cuesta Community College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo University are within 25 miles of city limits.
