The Lompoc Museum presents the 11th of its 13-part series commemorating the 100 Year Anniversary of the End of World War I. September’s program, “Lompoc Goes to War”, tells the stories of the Lompoc men who served in the Great War. The program reports on the results of almost a year of research by Dr. Lisa Renken and Valerie Jackson. The extensive research included primary sources at the Lompoc Valley Historical Society along with online genealogical and military resources.

Admission is free. Donations are gratefully accepted towards the repair and enhancement of the World War I monument that stands on the grounds of the Lompoc Museum.  The project includes the cleaning and repair of the monument and creation of a plaza with benches, planters, a bronze bas relief sculpture, and commemorative bronze plaques. A re-dedication of the 1925 monument is planned for 11:00 am on Sunday, November 11, 2018 – the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I.
