Places to frequent include the Drive-in Theater, Bubblegum Alley, downtown shopping, Children’s Museum, Madonna Inn, Botanical Garden, and the unique movie theaters. The weekly Farmers’ Market draws a huge crowd and is essential to experience. Evening in SLO transform into a vibrant nightlife scene. Annual Events include the Christmas Parade and Beerfest.

There are eight private schools, and the student/teacher ratio is 11:1. Cal Poly and Cuesta College are in San Luis Obispo, so they are just a short distance away from anywhere in the city.
